Tropical
Wholefood's partner 21C Village Network in Tanzania support rural
village communities by providing training and market access for
rare and non- traditional crops.
21C
instruct inland and coastal village communities in Southern Tanzania
in the
harvesting and processing of Neem bark, baobab seeds, seaweed, aloe
vera and
coconut oil.
21C
then purchase these ingredients and process them into soaps in their
small
soap production factory near Dar Es Salaam to create an unusual
range of soaps
and other products. All soaps are cold processed.
FM
Foods/Tropical Wholefoods currently purchase a range of three soaps
from 21C:
Neem, Purity and Lemongrass and Seaweed Scrub. Our collaboration
with 21C grew
out of a DFID funded export promotion programme in whcih 21C and
Adam Brett
worked together on quality control, business management and market
access for 21C
